Sexual Assault Services

Sexual Assault services provide advocacy, crisis intervention and medical accompaniment to survivors of sexual assault and their families. This program also participates in case review teams to provide the survivor with support and empowerment through the criminal justice system.

Sexual Assault Services Include:

Accompaniment

  •  Advocates provide accompaniment to hospitals, law enforcement offices, prosecutors' offices and courts for those adult survivors of stranger and non-stranger sexual assault. 

  • Medical accompaniment and accompaniment during forensic exams is provided to sexual assault survivors, regardless of age,  24-hours a day, 7 days a week.

Crisis Intervention 

  • Adult survivors of stranger and non-stranger sexual assault are provided crisis intervention 24-hours a day, 7 days a week through the 24-hours crisis hotline and through the accompaniment services.

  • Crisis intervention is available on a walk-in basis (1204 45th Street, Galveston, TX) during regular hours of operation (Monday- Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm).  No appointment is necessary for immediate face-to-face crisis intervention. ​

Advocacy

Public Education 

  • RCC provides complimentary public education classes to increase awareness of sexual assault and intimate partner violence. Classes cover the dynamics of sexual violence, its causes and consequences, resources available through RCC and community partners, and more!

  • RCC provides the Be Strong curriculum. An additional complimentary education course specifically for teens and young adults. We empower young adults through community mobilization, bystander intervention, and educating youth on developing healthy relationships.
